Dog Food Story

It was Tuesday, about 12:45, I was at the computer downstairs and Alex was playing with the dog food. He has been putting the food in their bowls for some time now. Anyway, I heard him coughing (not the right type of cough) and went to him. He had his finger up his nose saying "Mommy I can't get it out. Get it out Mommy." So I look and sure enough he put dog food up his nose, but by the time I got to him he had been sticking his fingers up there and it was too far up. I got some forceps, but the food was too slimy to grab. I asked him how many pieces and he said two - one in each nostril. So, I called the pediatrician and they said to bring him in. We go to get in the car (the office is only about 5-10 minutes from our house) and my car is dead. I called Joy, our neighbor, and she pulled her van in the garage and we jumped the car (a first for both of us). We leave, Alex falls asleep on the way there - which makes me nervous, but he is snoring so I can hear him breathing. It is now around 1:30. When we get to the pediatrician, they try, but they can't get it out either. So, we go across the hall to the ENT. The whole time Alex is calm and just sitting in his stroller. The food starts coming out one side - just like his nose was running. They take us back to the room and the nurse says... "Is he going to give us much resistance"? YES - He won'tt let me get near him with the nose suction bulb when he is sick! So, they strap him in a papoose - gosh, I wish I had one of those at home! The doctor numbs his nose a little first and then he uses a suction tool (vacuum) to suck out the pieces. Each one came out very full and whole. Alex never cried, but his eyes were open wide the whole time watching everything. They gave him lots of stickers and sent us on our way. The one time I didn't have my camera with me (and I forgot I could have used my phone). So, to share the story with you, I tried to record Alex telling the story while he feeds the dogs.

My first attempt was too funny - I had to post...

Here is the story by Alex...

New Playset

This is originally the Raymond's, Breeann & Ryan's, playset. We got it from the Barron's, Jimmy. We connected all the pieces at my mom's house. There are a ton of ways to put everything together. Alex loves playing on it. This is certainly a durable set - it is over ten years old and look how nice it still is!! A big thank you to Breeann, Ryan, and Jimmy for sharing! Alex is going to have a lot of fun this spring and summer (if it ever gets here).

Soccer Weeks 3 and 4

04-14-2009 Week Four... Red light, green light

Alex is on the far left. This is a different version of red light, green light. This version has what I think was a "blue light" and the kids are supposed to circle the ball - pretty funny...

04-07-2009 Week Three - scoring a long goal...

When his first shot misses - Uncle John helps him out. Alex still cheats a little bit and picks up the ball with his hands to line it up for his shot...

4-4-09 Zachary's Playground

Ameila, Riley, and Alex go down the blue slide together (almost)...

Amelia, Riley, and Alex go down the "bumpy" slide...

Of course, Alex needs to make lots of noise on the drums...

Easter Egg Hunt @ MO Botanical Garden April 4, 2009

Our first Easter Egg Hunt this year...

I guess I should have practiced with him so he knew what to expect. I am not sure if it was b/c he fell down or all the other people scared him, but he ran away from the eggs saying, "I don't like eggs."

After the Egg Hunt, we went to the Children's section of the Garden. Alex found a huge hay stack to climb on. He reached the top and almost knocked a little girl off and then he decided he could jump off - fearless. I wonder if he would have jumped had I not been there to catch him. He was pretty fast - I just made it around when he decided to go airborne!

Kickaroos Week Two

03-31-2009 I love this video of Alex at soccer. Watch how he gets a running start as he takes off to kick the soccer ball in the goal. He really likes going to soccer with Uncle John. Hopefully he will get some of Uncle John's soccer skills!

In this video, Alex is the second kid from the left on the wall. He is a fast runner, but he needs to work on running in a straight line instead of a diagonal.
